    City has already moved beyond the 2,010 (garden plots) by 2010 challenge. Three new gardens were created in the summer of 2010 and others are currently in the planning stage. This is an idea included in the Draft Greenest City Action Plan.

    Incentivize commercial building owners to allow their rooftops to be turned into community gardens. This will have multiple benefits - better insulating the buildings creating energy savings; promoting links between business and communities; contributing to better city air quality; enhancing the rooftop skyline; and allowing huge opportunities for new greenspace to be created.

  2. Collect logging driftwood and recycle it into wood pellets for biomass generation fuel.

    Port Metro Vancouver is under Federal jurisdiction. The City of Vancouver works with Metro Vancouver, Environment Canada, Port Metro Vancouver to advocate for shore-power. This idea is included in the Draft Action Plan.

    Similarly BC Ferries keep their engines running whilst docked and loading. Is this really necessary?

    Great idea! Vancouver needs more pedestrianized streets in neighbourhood hubs such as Lonsdale in North Van, Robson Street downtown, Hamilton and Mainland in Yaletown, Commercial Drive, 4th Avenue or Cornwall Ave in kits.
