An interesting concept, but extremely expensive, challenging to integrate into neighbourhoods and difficult to ensure flexibility to serve as broad a range of users as possible.

This is a very good idea! A variation on this theme I found was the Shweeb, a bicycle powered mono-rail that is also elevated.
