  2. Work with the Province and Feds to create more light rapid and mass transit to outlying GVRD areas.

    Outside City jurisdiction. TransLink is continually looking at ways to improve transit throughout the region, but additional funding is needed to make progress. A number of regional projects and plans are under way, including the Evergreen Line, and South of Fraser Rapid Transit Study.

    One of the 2020 targets for Green Transportation is to reduce distance driven per resident 20% from 2007 levels. One of the major challenges is data — better data sources are needed to monitor progress and set more detailed targets. Odometer readings would be one way to get better VKT numbers, and would be possible with support from the Province and ICBC. Improved regional travel surveys are another possible approach.

    Removing the helmet law doesn't make wearing a helmet illegal. I fin it funny how bent outta shape people get about this, as if the only reason people wear helmets is the law. The law doesn't work, as is obvious to anyone who sees every second biker not wearing a helmet. All the law does is prevent bike sharing.
    Lets switch from punishment to education.

    This is a great idea. With a few streetcars to help people move around it would be a boon to all businesses there. I know a few people think that removing cars means no-one will go shopping. The reality is that car free streets are enjoyable and lead to increased business as people enjoy being there.
