Requires support from TransLink. The City will continue to support this idea, through measures including secured rights-of-way (e.g. the centre median on 1st Avenue near the Olympic Village). The recent Olympic Line streetcar demonstration was very successful and helps make the business case for this project.

Outside City jurisdiction. While improved transit service South-of-Fraser is important, the Greenest City plan focuses on projects within municipal boundaries.

Outside city boundaries and jurisdiction. Addressing major gaps in the regional cycling network could potentially be addressed through the relevant local municipalities and/or TransLink. TransLink’s draft regional cycling strategy can be found here: http://translink.ca/cycling .

An error occurred while saving the comment JS commentedThis is a must for our city, and already proven to move traffic well on the one-way streets (Smithe, Nelson) downtown. I would also add to this the banning of all unregulated left hand turns from major arteries during rush hour and reducing street parking along these corridors.

City of Vancouver is considering the possibility of a ban for all new residential construction. This idea is considered in the draft Greenest City Action Plan.
An error occurred while saving the comment JS commentedI'm all for a wood burning appliance ban, with the exception of pellet stoves which are much more efficient and cleaner burning.

City of Vancouver to assist Metro Vancouver in their Non-Road Diesel Engine Initiatives & consider application to City of Vancouver equipment. This idea is considered in the draft Greenest City Action Plan
An error occurred while saving the comment JS commentedBan all gasoline two stroke scooters at the same time. Not only do they pollute multiple times more than conventional automobiles, they are noisy and irritating. Electric scooters are the way to go.

An error occurred while saving the comment JS commentedThe problem is with baseboards. They are the worst possible energy efficiency for heating, and do a very poor job of it. Heat pumps are the easiest to retrofit, but ideally new buildings would use in floor heating or built in heat pumps. Programmable thermostats don't deal with the poor heating distribution of baseboards, nor the inherent high energy use when on. While I've cut my baseboard electricity load by almost in half with programmable thermostats, I could cut it another 2/3rds with heat pumps. Heat pumps also provide air conditioning in summer, which is often required in many of the concrete condos in this city. As for noise, poor installation and/or poor quality of some units will cause problems, but if done right the noise of the outside unit is no more than ambient in downtown areas.
