An error occurred while saving the comment Stefanie commentedVancouverites and visitors want to recycle, so make it possible for them – in the office, in stores, malls, restaurants, gyms, clubs, sidewalks, transit lines, etc. There are trash bins all over the place – if the option of recycling and possibility even composting is as easy as tossing unwanted items in the trash, people will recycle and compost. Imagine how much could be diverted from landfills if office and apartment buildings all had mandated recycling centres of not only the basics like glass, plastic, tin, paper, cardboard, but also less commonly recycled items like tetra packs, batteries, etc.

The City supports Metro Vancouver’s plans to ban food scraps from the incinerator and landfills by 2015. The City will collaborate with Metro Vancouver to develop and implement a plan to ensure apartments, condos, businesses and institutions have access to food scraps collection programs before the ban comes into effect.
