Combine this with ideas to produce local/regional electricity from alternatives. Not at all keen on destroying a beautiful and important river valley (The Peace River Valley - Site C) for our increased electricity needs.

Combine this with 'Carbon Countdown' idea - comprehensive program to reduce carbon emmissions in Vancouver . . .

Need to call this something much more fun - eg. "Carbon Countdown". I'd like to see the city (the region) start taking carbon reduction much more seriously - alot of people know we're at 395 (350 being optimal) and climbing. Would be good if we all knew that and what it means. It's just been reported that 40 (40!) per cent of phytoplankton has disappeared in many of the oceans (see Quirks and Quarks a few weeks ago) they think because of the ocean surface temperature - but ocean acidification is a big (and not well-advertised) issue as well - and may be a cause. Good ideas! The City is currently doing a feasibility assessment of connecting a micro-turbine to the City’s water system. If the feasibility is positive, it will be considered in the City’s capital budget for implementation.
