Several private apts and co-ops already have gardens. This is done at the discretion of the land-owner.
An error occurred while saving the comment Thea Hollett commentedIf the Earth is going to get warmer, then trees will be needed to give shade, hold moisture, attract rain (water only goes where it can be cleansed and purified). Vancouver does not have enough forests in urban settings - Stanley Park, Endowment lands, To say we have enough trees is ignorant! The work that trees do creating air... - go over to West Vancouver and feel the better quality air than in the city - more trees are needed in the city so that decent air is breathed - so that people think better - so that cool air is available on a 40+ degree day. So that our city looks like a park, not a parking lot. One lane for public transit... One lane for bikes and the rest for trees. Note - there are no lanes for cars. Take away the Roman grid for cars and make the city people friendly.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thea Hollett commentedBan dishwashers, dryers, private swimming pools, sprinkler systems, car washes, cars and other lifestyle toys that have no value in a sustainable environment. A city and its inhabitants that continue to behave contrary to the needs of nature to keep us alive is not sustainable and need reworking completely to remain on the Earth! A cell that is growing out of control and contrary to the needs of the host is considered a virus or cancerous growth that is not wanted or encouraged by the 'host'.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thea Hollett commentedThe corner grocery/local food garden is a must to reduce unneccessary traffic. Make more villages that can be walked to in each neighbourhood, that have food stores, bakeries, farmers markets, etc.

City of Vancouver is considering the possibility of a ban for all new residential construction. This idea is considered in the draft Greenest City Action Plan.
An error occurred while saving the comment Thea Hollett commentedThere will always be wood and there will not always be gas. Far better we get rid of cars and industry than we worry about staying warm when the gas lines are broken.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thea Hollett commentedTrees are far more valuable to humanity than science is aware of. Why do have to cut any trees? I would prefer that we remove housing, fencing, lanes and sidewalks and turn the city into a forest with housing rather than a city with trees.
