Plant trees lots and lots of trees!
Plant trees lots and lots of trees. There are so many streets and areas in Vancouver where trees have died and not been replaced and areas were trees simply have never been planted. One just needs to have a walk on the seawall to notice that there are so many lots already allocated for trees that are instead filled with grass. Trees equals shade, less CO2, and a greener and more beautiful city. Come on Vancouver its time to green up one tree at a time!

City should only plant trees that produce edible crops - especially nuts since they can be stored longer. Food bank volunteers can collect the nuts and distribute. Hungry and homeless and everyone else can collect save money and have high quality food in the winter.

The city needs a proper community forestry department which would not only be an arboristry branch of city engineering but a planning tool for the city for all the new and existing development. If trees die in the city it is because we are not giving them enough to survive. And the maintenance of an existing tree should be consider not only as a carbon offset but also considered for its multiple benefits ranging from public health, heat management and storm water absorption.

The right tree in the right place still applies. Not very tree has to be a giant, especially under power lines. You can pick species that are smaller in stature but still provide value. Even smaller stature trees need adequate soil volumes to support the size and longevity of a mature(30-40 years) tree.

You have to plant the right kinds of trees that do not turn into Giants. Otherwise they get pruned to crap, look ugly, fall apart and die.
Look around see the grotesque trees.
