Elimination Of All Bike Lanes In Vancouver
This catagory is wrong, it should be travel by Automobile,Foot or Transit only which pays most of the taxes, When Bikers start paying annual bicycle license fees, access fees and tolls to use Bridges then it can be add to this Catagory
This idea will not get us to our 2020 target to make the majority of trips by foot, bicycle and public transit.

The idea that cyclists don't pay their fair share is one of the most persistent myths of modern culture. In fact, private car ownership is one of he most subsidized aspects of our society. In Metro Vancouver taxpayers subsidize car owners to the tune of $6,000 per year (bc.transport2000.ca/learning/background/transport_2021/cost_report.html).
So cyclists who drive little or never are actually helping to subsidize the habits of frequent car driver. -

This comment seems very narrow minded and stuck in an archaic paradigm. Biking is healthier, safer, and better for the environment than driving.

I do not care what it costs the city, automobiles put more people to work than any other industry in the world, I guess you never took economics in school, anyways I disagree with you, I forgot Bikers have to pay for parking also, anyways we will see what happens after Nov 2011. We are not talking about Drivers License, we talking about parking, gasoline taxes, you pay nothing Barb.

huh? Roads are paid for from our property taxes (not drivers liscence fees) - cyclists pay the same property taxes but need was less road space, maintenance etc. Increasing cycling and transit costs the city less and as fewer people drive, it is the cheapest way to reduce congestion on our roads.

This is a fantastic idea even if I say so myself
