create an urban farm network
Create an urban farm network, a hub that links farms, farmers, local food distribution and storage in the city and provides resources to everyone (including organized farms, non-profits, individuals, schools, community groups, city, etc) and provide business advice, links to funding, assistance in creating and sustaining local jobs, training farmers, and develop partnerships and connection to other urban farm resources throughout the city
Community groups are in early stages of discussing the implementation of this idea.

One community garden has a box where if they have extra, the gardeners leave the produce and the community can help themselves. I think that's a great idea, even if someone had gotten to the box before me!
VIllage Vancouver engages individuals and organizations to take actions that build sustainable communities, and have fun doing it.

I would like to comment that this type of project is on its way. I am doing such a project as an UBC undergrad thesis. You will be able to keep updates on my blog at cmthoreau.wordpress.com (no posts yet - but coming soon!)
