Vancouver’s Solar Homes Pilot is offering $4300 towards the cost of solar hot water systems in Vancouver – this is roughly 50 per cent of the cost of a system. The funding is available to 30 homes on a first come, first served basis. In order to qualify for the rebate, your system must be installed by December 31, 2010.

Of course they do - but their requirements are the most strict in the world - thus making them extremely expensive. If the standards were more like Europe - their would be thousands and thousands of installs - take alook around - theres barely even one in this city. In Germany they installed 900,000 sq m of solar water heating, in China 8,200,000 yet in Canada barely 1200 sq m - yes. this is the easiest way to lower CO2 since vastly less NatGas would be used.

Vancouver's Green Building code does allow them on roofs. They have even made it mandatory for new buildings to be built "solar hot water ready".
